Making this scrappy star pattern with Deb Tucker’s Studio 180 “Corner Beam” trim down tool, your floating stars will end in perfect points!

This quick & easy quilt project is perfect for any combination of fabrics. The runner on the cover page of the pattern is made with 12 different Kaffe Fassett prints, plus the solid background, but yours is sure to look great in whatever fabrics you choose.

Description: This beginner quilted table runner is made up of squares consisting of “ties” and side triangles. You can use the templates included in the pattern or use the Studio 180 “Corner Beam” tool.. Make your runner as long or as short as you’d like simply by adding or subtracting squares

Fabric Requirements:

  • Prints: Any combination (in this pattern the side triangles are the print fabrics). The pattern used 12 prints – 1/6th yard of each. You can use any combination of fat-quarters or scraps
  • Background Fabric: ¾ - 1 yard total (for the inner “tie” shapes). Choose one main fabric or any combination of coordinating background fabrics, Fat-quarters, yardage or scraps
  • Binding – ½ yard –
  • Batting & Backing – 1 ¾ yards
  • Pre-Class Cutting: Prints: Cut 6” X WOF strips

Pre-Class Cutting

  • Background (Fabric A) – Cut 6” X WOF strips
  • “Tie” Shapes: Sub-cut (22) 6” squares
  • Setting Triangles: Cut (2) 9 ½” strips X WOF
  • Sub-cut (6) 9 ½” squares
  • Cut in half diagonally (for 12 setting triangles)

What to Bring to Class

  • Fabric Strips: Please bring your pre-cut 6” strips and squares to class
  • Ruler or Template Plastic: Your “ties” and side triangles will be cut in class with the Corner Beam ruler (or your templates)
  • Please have your template plastic cut out before class if not using the ruler
  • Basic Sewing Supplies: Sewing machine, thread & bobbins, scissors, pins, seam
  • Ripper, rotary cutter with new blade and cutting mat
